Feed-grade turmeric powder is derived from the rhizomes of the traditional Chinese medicinal herb turmeric—after removing impurities and peeling, followed by grinding and sieving. It represents a new, eco-friendly resource as a feed additive. Originally native to Southeast Asia, turmeric is an annual, fragrant herb that boasts both medicinal properties and versatile uses as a culinary spice and natural food coloring agent.
On January 1, 2013, the Ministry of Agriculture issued Announcement No. 1773, establishing the "Catalog of Feed Raw Materials," which for the first time included turmeric as a feed ingredient. Known for its antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antioxidant properties, ability to improve gut health, and growth-promoting effects—as well as its powerful coloring capabilities—turmeric is increasingly being recognized as an excellent alternative to antibiotics in animal feed, poised to become a rising star in the feed market.
